The Sculpture

This project involves the creation of a series of fibreglass sculptures that will be placed in various cities along the US-Mexico border. The hybrid image of the sculpture — inspired by two internationally recognized icons originating from Mexico and the United States —  represents the hybridization in the border identity.

The Sculpture world-wide! As a means to increase the visibility of the project on social media networks and in light of the “travelling exhibit” concept of the project, Chipe has circulated postcards featuring an image of the Sculpture via social media and friend networks around the world, with each collaborator taking pictures of the postcard wherever they go. To date the Sculpture has been photographed in approximately 200 cities, 80 countries, and 5 continents.
